The rate at which new edible suppliers are popping up is amazing, and one of the new suppliers is Cyan_ide_, selling cannabis infused Malva Puddings at R50 each. Malva Pudding is a personal favourite dessert, and as such I was extremely excited when we were supplied with our first taster several weeks back. This time, we purchased a full pudding for review and spaced out the dosage over a couple of days. These are potent puddings and should definitely be approached with respect. The cannabutter used to create these edibles were created from pressed rosin pucks from a variety of indoor strains.
Having just started selling, the packaging for these malva puddings are set to evolve to printed information. However, even as they are currently being sold the packaging felt homely. The hand-written message on the inside of the box provides a more personal touch and some may actually prefer it to printed labels. The pudding comes in its own foil holder which is then placed inside of a cardboard box.
Visually, the pudding looked amazing! There were no signs of any burnt or uncooked parts, providing a solid consistency in quality and visual appearance. On top, was a soft sprinkle of green confectionery glitter, adding a little something extra.
For fans of malva pudding, you can expect the same classic malva taste with a light to moderate cannabis aftertaste. The recipe was sweet enough that the bitterness that sometimes comes with cannabis infused foods wasn’t very noticeable. The mouthfeel was exactly what one is expecting with malva pudding with a soft and slightly sticky chew. It took a lot of restraint not to eat more than I should…
Which brings us to the high… Unfortunately points had to be deducted in the category of dosing, as there are no accurate potency statistics provided. Since these were made using untested rosin pucks, there was no way to calculate the dose for each pudding and potency may vary slightly depending on the puck being used. With that said, these are marketed as high potency edibles and should definitely be eaten carefully by those with lower tolerances.
For the review, we took small amounts before redosing in order to try and calculate an estimate on dosage. From our estimates, the entire pudding seemed to clock in at around 120-180mg, with a quarter dose feeling similar to a 40mg dosed edible.
For those with low tolerances, I’d probably recommend starting with an 8th and seeing how you feel before redosing. For those more experienced, you probably already know how to dose your edibles anyway.
The high from a quarter lasted around 9 hours, making it a near full-day adventure. There wasn’t much anxiety from the dose, something that I’ve experienced a few times. The ability to relax through the experience definitely made it a pleasant one. The only “side effect’ felt was really just munchies.
Overall, the potency received for the price point makes this an excellent option for those looking to enjoy a delicious pudding while also getting baked themselves.
