Blue Cheese is a popular cross between Cheese and Blueberry. The cross is widely renowned for its medicinal properties, with fairly strong Indica effects bringing on relaxation and pain relief for many who smoke it. This particular Blue Cheese happened to be grown using hydroponics.


This particular bud came in looking like what one would expect from a high quality indoor grow, being very dense and also extremely sticky. The cure seemed good with correct moisture levels. Trichomes were on the high end of the scale, but not quite completely frosty. Colouration wasn’t bad, but not quite popping in the vibrancy.

Aroma & Taste

As with all the stock we got this time from 420Monkeys, the aroma was really strong both before and after grinding. Having grown Blue Cheese myself, I felt like my harvest was severely overshadowed in the drying and curing process, with this flower holding onto the scent very well. A strong combination of Cheese, combined with the sweetness of the Blueberry genetics. Blue Cheese has quite a unique aroma. The dry pull was sweet, with little cheese taste. After being lit, the inhale comes across as very sweet and Blueberry dominated, where after the exhale brings forward lower notes of the Cheese. There was almost an element of hair product taste, though more so the flavouring used in scented shampoos or hairsprays (not in a negative way). This joint burnt very well, offering white ash on the joint and a smooth pull.


The high of Blue Cheese tends to be quite sedating, and we found this flower to echo our experiences with Blue Cheese. An initial floating feeling in the head is soon met with a relaxation of the body, moving down from the head. Our bodies weren’t quite as sedate as the Purple Afghan Kush we will be reviewing soon, though was still enough to send us to bed for an early night. The high was potent and felt a little more balanced than we expected. This could be due to some clear trichomes, with not as many amber trichs as some growers may aim for on traditionally medicinal strains.
